On June 19, 2024, the NIIBS Library successfully held a Book Binding Workshop at NIIBS Promises, with valuable support from the National Library and Documentation Services Board of Sri Lanka. This initiative aimed to enhance practical skills in book preservation and resource development, aligning with national efforts to strengthen academic infrastructure.
The workshop featured participation from Ven. Dr. Dampe Vijitharathana Thero, the Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies, who shared insightful perspectives on the cultural and educational significance of book conservation. Ms. Ishani Udeshika, Assistant Librarian, along with the NIIBS library staff and non-academic staff, actively engaged in the sessions, fostering a collaborative learning atmosphere.
Participants gained hands-on experience with bookbinding methods, emphasizing the importance of preserving academic resources for future generations. The workshop also highlighted the crucial role that libraries play in sustaining knowledge systems and supporting academic excellence.
